This music video can automatically be identified to having dance music conventions features throughout its video. For instance, in this particular mid shot, a woman is free style dancing in time with the dance beat and fast cut shots. This creates a sense of realism that they would be in a dance/ club environment- this also further contributes to the sense of realism.  All of these fast cut, different angled shots fully exaggerate the dance feel aimed to be conveyed- this allows the audience to have a sense of euphoria and the 'feel good' dance feeling.

Certain parts of the music video, for instance in this particular scene, slow motion editing has been used which contrasts with the other fast cut shots of the video.  The time is stretched for longer periods of time, which allows the audience to focus on certain aspects purposely designed to be focused on. This further submerses the audience into the dance environment.

Many high angled establishing shots have been used to portray to the viewers the sense of environment the dance track is filmed in.  In this videos case, multiple difference scenes are featured, however, you can identify many similarities within each scene such as blue skies and a peaceful/happy environment. These features have been specifically chosen in order to match the songs genre and add a sense of verisimilitude for the audience. Each individual is dancing in the scene which creates a lively setting, futher emphasized by the bright colours (both within the scenes and the individuals clothing) featured in order to add to the sense of liveliness and ‘feel good’ atmosphere.

Advertising Question

Explain how representations in adverts are constructed to promote the product. Choose two of the adverts you have studied.  One of the adverts we have studied was 'Shelter's poster' which can be closely analysed to identify different constructions used in order to promote the well known charity. To begin, one of the representations employed in the advert is displaying 3 different faces, this emphasises the normality it it is for people to feel perhaps upset and scared (shown through the individuals blank faces)- this way of advertisement may evoke people to have a social conscience and believe in collective responsibility. There is soft lighting used to make their faces clearer and highlight there expressions, the background has also been made black to emphasise their faces.  Shelter has purposely chosen 3 completely different individuals with different ethnic backgrounds to convey the message that anyone can be in the situation of loosing their home and...
