Comparing our shots:
For part of our first shot (Wear brown shoes after 6), we recreated the umbrella scene... to ensure it looked similar to the original, we darkened the lighting making it dimly lit, in addition, both shots featured minimal lighting from the distant surroundings which we recreated to make sure the locations in each shot matched realistically.
1) How organised were you as a group? What elements of organisation were vital to you as a production group?
Before we started filming, we ensured each member in our group knew the assigned scene we were required to film. We produced a timetable with the dates each scene needed to be filmed by, the people included, and any props that may be required. This was very helpful when it came to organisation and planning as everyone was aware of what needed to be completed and who's responsibility it was.
2) What technologies did you use and how did they serve to develop your skills as a media practitioner?
2) What technologies did you use and how did they serve to develop your skills as a media practitioner?
We used the software 'Adobe Premiere Pro' when it came to editing each shot within our film. This helped to develop my skills as a media practitioner as I learnt new technical abilities on the application. We edited as a group and then had practices using the software individually.
3) How creative do you think you were during this process? What elements of the project required creativity and imagination, even though you were given a very structured brief to 'copy'?
3) How creative do you think you were during this process? What elements of the project required creativity and imagination, even though you were given a very structured brief to 'copy'?
Despite the fact we were given a very structured brief to copy, the project still required a lot of creativity. For example, there were certain scenes that were particularly difficult to recreate, so we had to use our imagination to make it as accurate as possible. For instance, the 'try too hard' and 'dress like a girl' scenes required lots of advanced filming and unavailable props, yet we still completed them in the white room with the equipment best suited and available. To cast the correct pink/blue lighting within a scene we used certain materials in front of the lights... this is an example of how we improvised when we didn't have access to the more advanced equipment.
4) How successful do you think your first draft video is? Use examples from the film to illustrate your evaluations.
I think that our first draft video was successful due to the fact it accurately matched the original project which meant our filming, editing and timing was precise and at a high standard. Considering this was our first attempt at editing a video like this, I think it was produced well and accurately. Certain shots of the film appeared to be very professional looking especially with the high quality editing.
5) In preparation for the next stage of your production work, what knowledge of experience will you take with you into the next project?
